North & Tiran

Similar to the Best of Wrecks Safari, the North and Tiran Tour offers glimpses of some of the most infamous wrecks in the Strait of Tiran. The diver will find fascinating reefs and challenging barriers here. Tiran is a group of four primary reefs joined by an underwater bridge at the entrance of the Gulf of Aqaba.Tiran is world famous for its extraordinary variety of corals and its strong south-west currents. Home to plenty of big fish in the Red Sea.

SS. Thistlegorm – Shaab Ali:

Any Red Sea diver must dive the mysterious SS Thistlegorm.

It's a wreck enthusiast's dream, not the least of which is her magnificent cargo.

But it also offers a variety of fish. Schools of barracuda or large tuna and snapper are not uncommon here.

As an artificial reef, it also attracts countless coral fish. Worth seeing is the stern with its guns, the midship and foreship, the bow and the cargo, as well as the vehicles, the two locomotives, the tender and the water wagon.

The currents at the wreck are moderate, sometimes strong. Visibility is generally moderate and there are often many boats on site.

The early morning hours are recommended as the best diving time.

Abu Nuhas:

Also known as “Ship Graveyard”. Who has not heard of the 4 wrecks of Abu Nuhas.

This reef has more ships than any other in the area.

On the north side of Abu Nuhas, the four wrecks lie on a sandy seabed. Giannis D, SS Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimono M.

On the south side there is a secure berth for liveaboard vessels.

Ras Mohamed:

This is one of the world's most famous dive sites and is located at the tip of Sinai.

A wall that slopes up and down vertically connects two little reefs. You can reach Yolanda Reef by drifting with the current from Shark Reef over a steep wall that drops several hundred metres.

The wall is completely covered with colorful corals. On the way to Yolanda Reef you reach a plateau with small boulders and coral islands.

When you arrive at Yolanda Reef, you can see the wreckage of the "Yolanda," which was carrying toilets and bathtubs, which is in pieces. There are an enormous number of fish all around the area.

Here it is always worth taking a look into the blue!

Jackson Reef - Tiran:

The wreck of a freighter, which serves as a clear warning to ships, is located on the northern edge of this reef, which is the furthest to the north.

The dives here are usually started from the moorings on the south side and dive north over a forest of spectacular sea fans, fan corals, starting at around 20 to 30 metres.

There are so many different species of reef fish at this dive site. The dive can also be done as a drift dive from the anchorage to the east with the reef on the left.

Here you dive along a remarkable steep wall with excellent coral growth.

Woodhouse Reef - Tiran:

This is the longest of the 4 reefs in the Tiran Strait.

Reef sharks and eagle rays can be found here. You dive here with the current from south to north. On the southern part of the reef, the wall is full of coral up to about 30m.

There is a gorge along the reef starting at around 25m.

Thomas Reef - Tiran:

This is the smallest reef in the Strait and diving here is weather dictated as currents can be extremely strong.

At the end of the vertical walls there is a large plateau on the south-eastern side, starting at around 25m.

This plateau often has roosting sharks on the sandy areas and large sea fans at the bottom.

Gordon Riff – Tiran:

This is the farest south of the four reefs and has a different topography to the other 3 offering a flat plateau and sheer walls.

A large variety of reef fish and large schools of grouper can be seen here and on the sandy bottom at 4 to 5 metres. There is an eel garden here.

There is a lighthouse on the reef where the wreck of the Lovilla, which sits almost parallel to the wreck on Jackson Reef.

Laguna Reef - Tiran:
